Care
MILAAU furniture is made from natural, high-quality materials: solid wood, concrete and steel. Each has its own character, texture and way of ageing. Proper care helps preserve their beauty for many years.
Solid wood
We finish our solid wood furniture with natural hardwax oil. Wood is a durable, high-quality material that develops character over time and ages gracefully when properly cared for.
A few simple steps are all it takes to enjoy the beauty of your furniture for years to come.
For everyday cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth or a care product intended for oiled furniture.
Solid wood should not be exposed to prolonged contact with water, high humidity or direct heat. Such conditions can intensify the natural movement of the wood and cause damage.
Wood is a natural material and responds to its surroundings. It performs best in a stable indoor environment, away from direct heat sources and intense sunlight.
The upper surfaces of tabletops should be refreshed periodically with a suitable product for oiled or hardwax-oiled wood. How often this is needed depends on the intensity of use. For table surfaces, we recommend doing this once a year to maintain optimum stain resistance.
Concrete
MILAAU concrete tops are protected to withstand everyday use while retaining the material’s natural, raw character.
For everyday cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. If necessary, you can use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner.
Avoid aggressive detergents, acidic or strongly alkaline cleaners, descaling products and abrasives. They may damage the protective layer or alter the appearance of the surface.
Wipe up spills as soon as possible, especially coffee, wine, juice, oils and other substances that may cause discolouration.
Concrete is naturally irregular. Subtle variations in shade, small pores, discolouration and light signs of use are part of its character.
Steel
Steel elements are best cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If necessary, use a mild cleaner and then dry the surface with a clean, dry cloth.
Powder-coated steel should be cleaned gently, without scrubbing or abrasive products that could damage the coating.
Avoid prolonged contact between steel and water, salt or strong chemicals. These may affect the appearance of the surface or damage its protective coating.
